Who are Green Squeeze?

We are an independent campaign group of local people from the Derbyshire borough of Erewash.  We came together after proposals were unveiled to develop the redundant Stanton Iron Works site and put an access road straight through the Erewash countryside.  These proposals will have a dramatic effect on the local area and for many miles around.

What does this mean for you?

• Dangerous traffic chaos will result as the new town dwellers will ‘rat run’ through Sandiacre, Stapleford, Stanton by Dale, Dale Abbey, Risley, Trowell, Kirk Hallam and Bramcote to access Nottingham and Derby. Our existing HGV problems will simply be made worse.
• We favour routes that use existing transport infrastructure and do not destroy the Erewash countryside, as well as improved public transport.
• Saint Gobain will submit a planning application for the site some time in 2012.
• Green Squeeze is campaigning for a sustainable new community that prioritises jobs over housing – a flagship to be proud of that will endure for future generations.

What can you do?
